5 Ways Social Media Has Changed People's Lives

My First example is Facebook, it helps people connect with family members who live far away in other countries or provinces that can't get together on a regular basis. I know for myself I have family members in another province that I haven't seen in ages and using Facebook allows me to connect with them. Facebook is also a great social media site to set up fundraisers for specific charities that want to raise money for their cause.

My Second example is the News, it provides updates about what is happening around the world and local news feeds on what is happening in my own city. Their availability on social networks makes them more accessible to the public. They provide tweets on social media like Twitter and Facebook for the public to view. News travels quickly among this kind of network.

My Third example is Cell Phones. With the new technology of upgraded cell phones it's easier and more convenient to access the web, emails and social network sites. With the use of wireless ear plug ins you can communicate with people a lot faster and easier without having to hold a phone in your hand.

My Fourth example is Computers. Computer technology has come along way over the years. From the old dial-up which took forever to get on the network to fast high speed wireless internet service. Using computers you can connect a lot faster with people using emails or social networks. This technology also helps people broaden their learning capabilities by surfing the web for whatever topics their looking for. People can use Skype for face to face communication using computers to connect with family members or conference calls regarding business meetings.

My Fifth example is You Tube. You can watch videos about different countries and cultures from people all over the world. A person can see the reality of what is going on in other countries that the news media or government won't or can't show such as war and terrorism. It's also a way for people to tell their stories of what's going on in their lives. It's a good source for education such as videos, tutorials or lectures.

Social Media has changed so many lives all over the world for good and bad. It does help to get the word out for special causes and news feeds as well as communication for people to connect. However, most of the social networks take away from face-to-face communication which I think makes people social misfits in our society.
